Sour foods like citrus fruits and fermented foods can improve digestion, control weight and support oral health.

Sour foods are acidic because they contain organic acids such as citric, acetic or lactic acid. Improve digestion

Eating sour foods can be beneficial for people with panic and anxiety. Panic occurs when the amygdala activates the flight or fight response. Sour flavors stimulate the brain to quickly switch attention to strong taste buds. This weakens the amygdala (the sensory part of the brain), giving better access to the frontal cortex (the thought-making part of the brain). As a result, the frontal cortex sends a message to the sensory part that the body is not in real danger.
