Israel | Due to a sharp increase in requests for help: 3 new psychological assistance centers were opened

Lending a helping hand: On the occasion of National Mental Health Day, which will be celebrated tomorrow, the association Quality in Rehabilitation, which accompanies families of mentally challenged people and families of survivors of Otaf parties, has opened three new mental health assistance centers following the steep increase in applications from people in need.

According to the data, there are currently over 250,000 mentally ill people in Israel, and about a million family members who support them. In the Yahal centers, operated by the association, last year there was a 13% increase in requests from family members for advice and support due to mental distress, and in the helpline there was a 70% increase.

The association received a mandate from the Ministry of Health to establish three more centers as mentioned – in Ashkelon, Haifa and Jerusalem, where teams will work together with treatment and rehabilitation factors and provide assistance to families struggling with mental health.

The teams at the Yahal centers in these three cities will focus “on providing assistance to the family members of people dealing with a disease or mental disorder, from a worldview that the family has a central place in the rehabilitation process of the person dealing with it.”

The association emphasizes that receiving the service at the counseling centers does not involve payment and the activity is financed and supervised by the Ministry of Health.
