Does jogging cause skin to age quickly?

There is a concept called Runner’s face – that is, the faces of people who regularly jog can look thinner, their facial skin can be more wrinkled and saggy than those of people who do not jog. However, it is not true that jogging will cause facial skin to age quickly.

The main causes of Runner’s face include:

  • Reduce subcutaneous fat: When you jog regularly, your body consumes energy and excess fat, including subcutaneous fat. Thinning subcutaneous fat can make the face look haggard and less plump.
  • Exposure to sunlight: Jogging outdoors exposes the skin to more UV rays from the sun, which can cause premature aging if not properly protected (apply sunscreen, wear a hat…).
  • Dehydration and environmental impacts: Running can dehydrate the body, and the skin will wrinkle more easily if not provided with enough water. In addition, factors such as wind and pollution also affect the skin.

Jogging is actually good for your overall health, including your skin. Jogging helps increase blood circulation, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin, supporting healthier and younger skin.
