Lean meat, protein from beans, nuts, yogurt, and fresh vegetables provide nutrients and antioxidants, supporting cancer treatment and health recovery.
A suitable diet full of nutrients helps people with liver cancer to absorb easily, ensure nutrition and improve health. Dr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Oncology Unit, Tam Anh General Clinic, District 7, suggests some dishes that are beneficial to the health of people with liver cancer.
Lean protein from chicken, eggs, and soybeans is a suitable choice for people with this disease. Because a weakened liver often cannot process fatty proteins (found in beef, pork, fried dishes). Lean protein helps patients strengthen immunity and promote health recovery.
Fresh fruits and vegetables Rich in antioxidants and vitamins that help the body increase resistance. Patients can eat vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash. Brightly colored fruits such as oranges, berries, apples, melons… are also beneficial for health.

Whole grains Provides good fiber and carbohydrates, increases energy for the body, and is easier to digest. Beans and bean products contain high levels of vegetable protein, thereby ensuring patients have enough nutrients and reducing the burden on the liver.
Foods rich in good fats like avocado, olive oil, fish oil, nuts, lots of good fats (omega-3, omega-6, omega-9). They help the body absorb antioxidants and other nutrients more easily.
Drink enough water. Patients need to supplement enough water to support metabolism and prevent dehydration, thereby increasing the effectiveness of cancer treatment. Liquid foods (porridge, soup, noodles) also provide water while making it easier for patients to swallow and digest.
Yogurt Rich in minerals, vitamins, calcium, and protein that are beneficial for health and improve the digestive system. Some yogurts containing unsaturated fatty acids (EPA) also improve weight loss in people with cancer.
Dr. Thanh said nutrition plays an indispensable role in the process of supporting liver cancer treatment. Each patient needs a different diet. Therefore, cancer patients and their families should go to the hospital or clinic to discuss with the doctor, receive appropriate instructions, and optimize treatment effectiveness.
