Families’ Tet feasts are very rich. Leftover food is often stored in the refrigerator and reheated when needed, both convenient and to avoid waste. However, this habit has many potential health risks. In fact, Tet is a time when people are susceptible to certain diseases due to not being able to control their eating habits, causing negative effects on their health.
Leftovers should only be reheated once. Cooling and reheating repeatedly not only causes loss of nutrients but also increases the risk of food poisoning. Although bacteria can be destroyed when heated, the toxins they produce still exist, causing harm to the user.
In addition, improper food storage or poor preservation can cause food to spoil, mold, and lead to poisoning. Storing too much food in the refrigerator also reduces the efficiency of the refrigerator, creating conditions for bacteria to grow, causing stomach pain, diarrhea or poisoning when eaten.
Food preservation time depends on each type. Leftover green vegetables after a meal should be thrown away, not kept. Spices like fish sauce, if left overnight, will lose their flavor and easily deteriorate. Leftover meat and fish can be stored in the refrigerator for 1-2 days, depending on how they are prepared. If left outside, food is only safe for about two hours after a meal, after which it is susceptible to bacterial invasion.
During Tet, everyone needs to maintain a reasonable diet, avoid cooking too much and causing excess. One tray should be used up in the second meal to ensure health.
