FDA warns: “smart” devices for blood sugar measuring – dangerous
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning to consumers from the use of “smart” devices marketed to measure blood sugar levels without stabbing. The warning refers to wise watches and rings that claim sugar measurement without the need for finger stabbing.

According to the FDA, these devices did not receive official approval and could provide inaccurate measurements, which could lead to serious results. “The Administration has not approved any watch or a smart ring to measure blood sugar values independently,” the official statement said.

The main danger lies in the fact that wrong measurements can lead to diabetics to take incorrect dose of insulin or other sugar -lowering drugs, which can cause dangerous complications such as seizures and coma.

It is important to note that while there are smart blood sugar levels that are connected to approved devices approved by the FDA, as they require skin penetration, such as continuous sugar monitoring devices.

The Administration emphasizes that it is now working to ensure that manufacturers, distributors and sellers will not be legally marketed. At the same time, they recommend consulting with the attending physician about happy sugar monitoring appliances that are suitable for their needs.

“If the medical treatment depends on accurate blood glucose measurements, the attending physician regarding the suitable device approved by the FDA should be consulted,” the message said.
