It saves a life – and you don’t know how: The defibrillator managed to save hundreds of thousands around the world by transferring an electric current that brings the heart back to normal activity during CPR. On the occasion of the awareness day (Monday), Magen David Adom will be held in collaboration with the Lottery and the local government center tutorials across the country to practice and guide the public how to use it and save lives.

A timely device (defibrillator) is a simple device for operating that everyone, children and adults, even without prior medical knowledge or experience, can use it and save lives. When opening it, it gives recorded guidelines on its operation, and the resuscitation actions to be performed. Use of time is the main cause of survival in the case of cardiac arrest, without it – the chances of survival are low.

Along with the local government center, Lottery and Defender David Adom, a national awareness campaign was founded, which began in February 2022 and continues this year as well, with the aim of raising awareness of the existence of and ease of public space, even without an early medical background, use them to save them life.

Today, MDA will hold about 190 publicity and training positions throughout the country, where Magen David Adom’s paramedics and paramedics will learn the general public on how to take life -saving actions that include use of time – in the case of cardiac arrest in our immediate vicinity.

70% of cardiac arrests occur at home, 12% in institutions and another 18% in the public sphere. 37% of initial interventions through devices were made by bystanders without medical training. The survival rate is currently only 7%, but it can be significantly improved through high availability of instruments from time to time in the public sphere.

As part of the national effort to increase accessibility to the acts, MDA in collaboration with the Lottery and Authorities has so far retired about 1,500 smart positions across the country, in public places such as synagogues, in the Parks of the Lottery and other places. .
