The 21 -year -old girl suffers from a series of ‘elderly’ diseases

The 21 -year -old girl was tired, her mouth bleeding could not hold, the test was detected by hypertension, anemia, diabetes, kidney disease – common diseases in the elderly.

Patients from Nam Dinh, has lost 20 kg in the past 6 months, often tired, dizzy, poor eating but not going to the doctor. More severe, she went to the Central Endocrinology Hospital to be determined to have end -stage kidney disease, hypertension and type 2 diabetes, coagulation disorders, severe anemia.

Specifically, the test results, renal function assessment index shows the severity: Hematuria increases (66.9 mmol/l-far beyond the normal threshold of 2.5-6.4 mmol/l), creatinine increases dozens of times (3,449 µmol/l while normal threshold 53-97 µmol/l). These indicators reflect patients with end -stage renal impairment that need cycle dialysis to maintain life.

The blood formula also shows low red blood cells, or patients with severe anemia. However, due to the silent chronic anemia, the patient’s body gradually adapted, causing unclear symptoms until it became serious.

“These indicators reflect the patient’s body has been damaged for a long time, the consequences of ignoring their own health,” said MSc. Trinh Quang Doan, the Department of Urology Kidney, added that if the girl has a periodic health check early to detect these diseases, it may have been treated promptly, avoiding heavy progress as at the moment. Patients are being treated under the regimen of resolving anemia, kidney failure and background disease.

Chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure or anemia may silently develop without clear symptoms, until detected it is too late. Therefore, the doctor recommends that people need periodic health checks even when they feel healthy, the best way to detect early and prevent dangerous diseases.

In fact, the disease “the elderly” is silently falling down many young people. In particular, hypertension and diabetes are non -communicable diseases in Vietnam and globally.

Hypertension is a common type of disease in the community with an estimated 25% of the population. Hypertension is considered a “silent killer”, causing many complications affecting the brain, heart, eyes, kidneys of large blood vessels … More dangerous, the patient does not always have symptoms of headache, dizziness, so many people do not know they have the disease.

Diabetes are metabolic disorders that have been increasing in recent years, in children. The disease becomes a serious public health problem, causing damage to many different organs, especially the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, eyes, nerves. The proportion of people infected but not diagnosed in the community is still high.

According to the Ministry of Health, an estimated 7 million Vietnamese people have diabetes. Of which, more than 55% encountered complications, including 34% of cardiovascular complications, 39% of eye and nervous complications, 24% of kidney complications. Patients with diabetes have complications increasing medical costs, reducing the quality of life.

To prevent, doctors recommend young people to have a healthy lifestyle, enhance movement and balance nutrition, keep weight properly. Young people should not be subjective, thinking that pathology only appears in the elderly but ignoring signs, causing serious complications, unable to interfere. Periodic health checks every 6 months or once a year.
