Bach Mai Hospital built a department to examine 7,000 patients a day

Bach Mai Hospital built a new medical examination area applying smart technology in management and operations, able to examine and treat 7,000 patients per day.

The project is expected to contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, improving the working environment for medical staff, and reducing the load on existing treatment areas. “This is also a specific step in the roadmap for digital transformation and smart hospital development, aiming to make Bach Mai a model hospital model in the region.”, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of the Hospital said at the event. Mr. Co said that after more than 110 years of establishment and development, the hospital’s current infrastructure, especially the medical examination building, is seriously degraded. The housing complex can no longer meet the development requirements of modern medicine and the people’s increasing medical examination and treatment needs.

Faced with that situation, the Government, the Ministry of Health and other agencies approved the investment project to build a new medical examination department at the location of the old building A of the hospital. The project includes 5 floors, a tum, 3 basements, total floor area of ​​more than 18,000 m², meeting 5,000-7,000 examinations/day.

The project is designed synchronously, integrating specialized clinics, testing areas, imaging diagnostics, reception areas and modern patient support services, applying smart technology in management and operation. Construction time is from now until the end of 2026.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan said that the Medical Examination Department project is an important part of the Bach Mai Hospital development project until 2030, in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s orientation on building modern medical centers, capable of meeting the comprehensive health care needs of the people.

The Deputy Minister requested the hospital and other units to implement the project on schedule and ensure quality.

Bach Mai is a special-class general hospital, the last line of the North, receiving 8,000-10,000 patients per day, with about 4,300 medical staff working. Last year, this place implemented medical examinations outside of office hours, at 5-9 p.m. every day for patient convenience and to reduce overcrowding. This is also the first special-class hospital in Vietnam to deploy a comprehensive digital solution, marking a turning point in the journey to becoming a comprehensive smart hospital.
