Drink healthy: three drinks that may help reduce blood pressure

However, according to the “Times of India” website, there are several natural drinks that may help lower blood pressure provided they are consumed regularly. It should be noted that these drinks are not a substitute for medication, and should only be consumed as a supplement.

Beet juice: The nutritional nitrites in beet juice are converted to nitric oxide when processed by the body. The nitric oxide helps to relax and dilate the blood vessels, which improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure.

Drinking beetroot juice after waking up helps improve the absorption of nitrate compounds required to manage blood pressure. Studies indicate that a 5 mmHg drop in systolic blood pressure as a result of consuming beetroot juice may reduce the chance of death from heart or blood vessel disease by up to 10%.

Hibiscus tea: The bioactive compounds in hibiscus tea act as natural ACE inhibitors – a mechanism similar to blood pressure medications. Research shows that drinking three cups of hibiscus tea a day lowers systolic blood pressure by 7.2 points in people with high blood pressure, while some participants get better results.

The properties of hibiscus tea are relaxing and help keep the blood vessels open and prevent their contraction which is responsible for high blood pressure. The anti-inflammatory compounds of the tea also contribute to the protection of cardiovascular health. Drinking hibiscus tea in the morning is a convenient way to deal with blood pressure problems naturally.

Unsalted tomato juice: Unsalted tomato juice is rich in heart-healthy compounds like lycopene and potassium, both of which play an important role in regulating blood pressure and promoting cardiovascular health.

According to various studies, adding unsalted tomato juice to the daily diet can improve blood pressure regulation and lower LDL cholesterol levels. Potassium helps balance sodium levels in the body, which reduces high blood pressure. Lycopene, a strong antioxidant, contributes to the fight against oxidative stress.

Choosing unsalted tomato juice is essential, as salted juices can raise sodium levels and inadvertently cause high blood pressure.

There are also other natural drinks that are recommended to include in your daily routine:

Pomegranate juice: clinical studies have shown that it is rich in antioxidants that help lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Green tea: Its healthy compounds contribute to improving the elasticity of blood vessels and reducing inflammation, which helps lower blood pressure.

Cranberry juice: low in calories and helps lower blood pressure in adults.

The most effective way to benefit from these drinks is to consume them without added sugars, as sugar can negate their health benefits. Regular consumption is also critical, as its effects are stronger when part of a long-term healthy diet.
