A 4-year-old boy died of the flu

A 4-year-old boy died this morning (Friday) from the flu after suffering from the disease for several days, according to the Ministry of Health. The boy, who was not vaccinated against the disease, was evacuated from his home in Bivaniel to the North Medical Center with no pulse, after prolonged resuscitation attempts were performed on the spot by his father and then by MDA teams.

Upon his arrival at the emergency room, advanced resuscitation operations continued, but despite the efforts, the medical teams had to pronounce him dead.

The North Medical Center (Foria) reported that the medical teams fought for the child’s life upon his arrival at the hospital, but his condition was critical.

The boy’s death is the fifth case since the beginning of the flu season, and he joins a series of other serious deaths. According to the Ministry of Health data, so far 52 deaths have been reported among hospitalized patients with confirmed influenza, in addition to four children: a ten and a half year old who was not vaccinated, a 6 year old who was not vaccinated, another 6 year old who was vaccinated, and a 4.5 year old who was not vaccinated and died last week.

At the same time, there are significant loads in the children’s wards, with hundreds of children hospitalized throughout the country since the beginning of the season, some of them in serious condition.

Against the background of the high morbidity, this week the Ministry of Health published recommendations to the public, including a recommendation to wear masks in closed public spaces, with an emphasis on hospitals, medical institutions and schools, as well as to avoid going to educational settings in cases of acute symptoms.
