The Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday, December 24, a decrease in the number of visits to clinics with flu symptoms. For the first time since the beginning of the epidemic, there has been a trend toward slowing the spread of the virus. This was reported by the Kan-11 TV channel.
The Ministry of Health notes that positive changes are especially noticeable among children aged 6 to 18 years, but this may be due to holidays in educational institutions.
Last week, 545 people were hospitalized nationwide with the flu, 175 of them children. Ten children are in intensive care units. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 51 children have been admitted to intensive care, five have died from complications.
It is noted that the proportion of positive tests for influenza is 56%, which is a high figure.
According to the Ministry of Health, about 1.6 million people – approximately 17% of the population – have been vaccinated against influenza.
Ministry of Health specialists warn: the influenza virus continues to circulate, the epidemic is not over, the incidence may rise again, so it is recommended to get vaccinated.
