Choosing contact lenses of clear origin, wearing them correctly, cleaning them regularly, and not using them for too long are tips to protect your eyes.
Colored contact lenses (beauty lenses, contact lenses) have the ability to change eye color, creating highlights for the face. Dr. CKI Nguyen Duc Huy, High-Tech Eye Specialist, Tam Anh General Clinic District 7, noted the need to use contact lenses properly, because incorrect use can cause eye damage leading to corneal ulcers and impaired vision.
Choose products of clear origin
Eyes are sensitive and easily damaged organs. Therefore, users need to choose high quality contact lenses with clear origins. Products that meet standards will be controlled in terms of materials, safety, and sterility to ensure eye comfort and limit dryness and irritation.
Wear glasses correctly
Wearing correct contact lenses for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism is very important because it helps light focus accurately on the retina, thereby providing clear and realistic images. When wearing the wrong glasses, the eyes have to adjust too much to compensate, causing fatigue, headaches, dizziness and reduced ability to concentrate. In the long term, this can also cause refractive errors to progress faster, disrupt eye coordination, and affect learning and work efficiency as well as safety in daily activities.

Wash your hands and wear contact lenses properly
Before wearing or removing contact lenses, wash your hands with soap and dry them. Glasses must be cleaned with a specialized solution, do not use tap water, spring water or physiological saline to wash. The container also needs to be cleaned regularly and replaced every 1-3 months because this is a humid environment, easily accumulating bacteria, fungi… Using old containers for too long can increase the risk of keratitis and eye infections.
Don’t wear glasses for too long
Wearing beauty contact lenses should not exceed 6-8 hours per day. Wearing it for too long causes the eyes to lack oxygen, become dry and susceptible to infection. Dr. Huy notes that people should not wear beauty contact lenses when sleeping, including napping, and avoid using them when their eyes are red, painful, have discharge or conjunctivitis.
Replace product on time
Each type has a different shelf life such as one day, one month or three months. Users need to strictly follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and do not prolong use to avoid bacterial accumulation. Contact lens soaking solution also needs to be changed each time it is used, do not add old solution.
Dr. Huy recommends that before using contact lenses for beauty, you should have an eye examination at a reputable facility to assess the condition of your cornea and advise on the appropriate type. During use, if symptoms such as pain, tearing, fear of light or blurred vision appear, you should remove the glasses immediately and see a doctor soon.
