Influenza morbidity in Israel is decreasing: Ministry of Health data point to the end

There is also a clear decrease in the laboratories. Less than a fifth of the samples were found to be positive for influenza, type A and the subtype K that was dominant throughout the season. At the same time, no positive samples for corona were detected at all, and the activity of this virus remains very low even among hospitalized patients. The hospitals are still treating a significant number of flu patients, but even here there is a noticeable decrease compared to the previous weeks.

A decrease in the rate of morbidity is also recorded throughout the Western world: the World Health Organization reports that the rate of positive tests for influenza is only 10 to 30%, with the dominant virus being the same K substrain that is common this year. A decrease is also recorded in the activity of the RSV virus, which causes severe viral pneumonia in infants and the elderly, against which there is a vaccine that can be given to these populations.

In the meantime, the health funds are about to end the national vaccination campaign in the coming weeks. According to the data, almost 1,900,000 people have been vaccinated, which is about 19% of Israelis.
