The disaster at the Ashdod refinery: an air vehicle supplier is prohibited from selling equipment

In accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Health, an inspection must be carried out that examines the compatibility between the stamping on the body of the container and the color of the container with the note indicating the contents of the container and also including the identity of the supplier.

The instruction is that anything in which there is a discrepancy or lack of clarity – must be taken out of use immediately, marked “not for use” and isolated from the rest. In addition, tools provided by “Salem Yaakov and Sons” must be taken out of use immediately. The operation division of the Ministry of Health is working together with relevant health bodies that received stock from the aforementioned supplier in order to provide alternatives.

According to what is known so far, no medical event has been discovered that could be a result of using these containers, but the professional examination continues.

From an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Health, it appears that a small portion of the residents of the home have oxygen tanks from the “Salam Yaakov and Sons” company that they use as a backup. As part of the preventive measure, the ministry instructed the health insurance companies to recall these oxygen tanks and to contact the relevant patients.

The Ministry of Health stated that it “continues to manage the event with the health organizations and will continue to inform the public as transparently as necessary.”

In the disaster at the refinery in Ashdod, the late Irena Radchuk and the late Nitzan Goyichman perished. According to the suspicion, the containers used by them did not contain medical air and may have even contained a toxic substance.
