Fighters in Gaza will be vaccinated against polio

The Ministry of Health recently updated that evidence of polio virus strains 2 was found in sewage samples collected in the Gaza area. Following the reports of the presence of the virus in the Gaza Strip, the IDF carried out additional sampling tests in various areas where remnants of the virus were discovered, which is contagious through drinking or touching the mouth with infected water. Following the findings, the IDF decided, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, to vaccinate the forces maneuvering in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of maintaining On the health of IDF soldiers and citizens of Israel.

The Technology and Logistics Division (ATL) has begun a broad vaccination operation for all regular and reserve maneuvering forces. The vaccinations will be carried out gradually as part of the refresh of the forces. The forces have been instructed to carry out actions to maintain personal hygiene. A soldier who is not interested in being vaccinated will not be required to do so.

Alongside the vaccination operation for soldiers, the IDF is working with the various organizations to introduce vaccines intended for the population in the Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the war, 300,000 polio vaccines have been introduced to the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the international organizations, which are enough for more than a million Gazan citizens.
