7 daily habits that cause premature skin aging

Eating a lot of sugar, drinking through a straw, sleeping on your side, not removing makeup, and not applying sunscreen can cause premature wrinkles and sagging skin.

Skin is not only important for appearance, but also has many functions. Skin regulates temperature, protects the body from germs and has nerves that provide sensation. As we age, skin loses fat and becomes thinner, not as soft and elastic as it used to be. There are habits that people often do without realizing that are damaging their skin, causing it to age faster.

No makeup remover

Going to bed without removing your makeup is a very harmful habit for your skin. Makeup, sweat, excess oil, dead skin cells and dirt on your skin after a long day clog pores, creating an environment for bacteria to grow, causing acne and inflammation. You should remove your makeup thoroughly, use a cleanser, then apply moisturizer.

Choose makeup that suits your skin type, avoid products that contain ingredients that dry out the skin and cause premature aging. Do not share makeup with others. Regularly cleaning beauty tools helps reduce the risk of dermatitis and acne.

Not using sunscreen

Wrinkles are a normal part of aging. However, not using sunscreen can cause wrinkles to appear earlier. This is because ultraviolet rays from the sun reduce elasticity, leading to wrinkles and sagging, and in more serious cases, can cause skin cancer.

People should limit going out between 10am and 4pm when the sun is strongest. Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, wear a hat, protective clothing and sunglasses. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating a lot.

Eating a lot of sugar

Sugar can have many negative effects on your overall health. Sugar consumption has also been linked to skin aging, promoting wrinkles, sagging, and even dark spots.

Sleep on your side

The habit of sleeping on your side can cause wrinkles because the facial skin is compressed to one side. Experts suggest that people should sleep with their heads on the lower corner of the pillow. This way, the lower part of the face is not actually on the pillow, which can prevent wrinkles in the nasolabial folds and cheeks.

Smoke

Smoking not only damages the heart and lungs, but also accelerates the aging of the skin. The harmful chemicals in cigarettes cause wrinkles, sagging and sallow skin. This can make a middle-aged smoker look as old as a 60-year-old.

Frequent eye rubbing

When feeling sleepy or too tired, many people often rub their eyes. Frequent rubbing over a long period of time can create wrinkles.

Use a straw

Using a straw to drink water can also cause wrinkles around the mouth. If you often use a straw, consider switching to drinking water directly from a cup. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body hydrated and avoid dry skin.
