More than 150 workers suspected of food poisoning after lunch

152 workers of Sunrise Apparel Vietnam Co., Ltd. were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning after lunch, including 6 cases of second-degree anaphylactic shock.

On the afternoon of August 28, Hoang Thuy Trading and Service Company Limited, headquartered in Thuy Van Industrial Park, provided 825 meals for workers of Sunrise Apparel Vietnam Company Limited, located in Hoang Xa Industrial Park, Thanh Thuy District. The meals included braised fish, boiled cabbage, beans with meat sauce and white rice. After about an hour of lunch, many workers felt dizzy, nauseous, had diarrhea, itching… and were taken to medical facilities for emergency treatment.

As of 6 p.m. the same day, the total number of people hospitalized was 152, of which 6 cases had symptoms of grade II anaphylactic shock such as abdominal pain, vomiting, hives all over the body, and mild difficulty breathing. 146 cases had mild symptoms, mild abdominal pain, and nausea.

Mild cases were discharged from hospital, the number of patients being treated is 87. Of which, the district medical center has 59 cases, Dong Trung commune medical station has 5 cases, Bao Yen has 15 cases and Hoang Xa has 8 cases.

Representatives of Thanh Thuy District Medical Center said most patients suffered from food poisoning.

Leaders of Phu Tho Department of Health and Thanh Thuy district mobilized forces to collect food samples for testing to find the cause.

Also on the same day, Hoang Thuy company provided about 3,000 meals for workers of several companies in the province.
