Former Coritiba player returns to the pitch after eight months

Having not played since November last year, when he suffered a serious injury to the Achilles tendon in his right ankle while wearing the Coritiba against Botafogo, the striker Diogo Oliveira returned to the field after about eight months.

Currently, the athlete wears the shirt of Plaza Colonia, a club in the Uruguayan second division. Last week, Diogo came on during the match against Cooper and helped his team win 2-0, with an assist for a goal.

“I am very happy to be able to do what I love most again after so long. Only my family and I know what I went through and all the effort I made to be back. I feel stronger, both physically and psychologically, and ready to wear the Plaza Colonia shirt again.”

Born in the state of São Paulo, Diogo Oliveira began his professional career at Elosport. He then played for teams such as Vasco (under-23), Francana, Plaza Colonia, Pumas and Coritiba.

His main highlight came outside the country, scoring 24 goals between the 2020 and 2023 seasons, for Plaza Colonia and Pumas, respectively.

At Coritiba, Diogo Oliveira played in just 15 games before rupturing the tendon in his right ankle. Against Botafogo, the striker was playing his second consecutive match as a starter until he suffered the injury.

“I would have liked to have spent more time at Coritiba. Playing in the Série A of the Brazilian Championship is something I have always dreamed of and I was very happy to be doing. Unfortunately, with the injury, it was not possible, but now I will try to continue working to be able to help the club I play for achieve its goals this season,” he commented.
