Coritiba aims to repeat first round sequence for promotion

Coritiba can once again believe in access if they repeat the good results they had in the first round against the next three opponents in Series B. Against Ituano, Goiás and América-MG, the team won seven points in the first part of the competition.

With the positive sequence, with two wins and one draw, the team reached eighth place in the table, three points behind the G4 at the time. Coxa beat Ituano at home, 4-2, drew with Goiás away, 1-1, and beat América-MG at Couto, 1-0.

Now, Alviverde is trying to repeat its good run to see promotion become possible. In 11th place in the table, Coxa is six points away from the qualifying zone and, depending on the combination of results from the other clubs, could be very close to the G4.

After these three games, there will be only eight rounds left until the end of series B. The average points for access in recent years was 63 points. With the current campaign, in the next 11 games, Coxa needs to add 26 points to reach the magic number, that is, it needs nine wins, or eight wins and three draws.

Coritiba’s chances of promotion have increased, but remain low

After the victory against Ceará, on Wednesday (18), by 3 to 1, the chances of Alviverde gaining access increased. Previously, according to the Mathematics Department at UFMG, which works with probabilities in football, the chances were 1.3%, but they rose to 2.4%.

In a press conference after the match at Couto, coach Jorginho stated that he continues to believe in a place in the Série A in 2025. “I love it here, with all my heart.
