Valencia kicks off and Real Sociedad and Las Palmas remain at a standstill

The ‘che’ team beat Girona, the Basques tied with Valladolid and the Canaries lost to Osasuna

Valencia beat Girona (2-0) this Saturday in matchday six of LaLiga EA Sports to open its winning record, while Real Sociedad did not go beyond a goalless draw against Real Valladolid and UD Las Palmas lost to Osasuna (2-1).

The Valencia team finally got going and did so at Mestalla, against a Champions League team like Girona, although with some luck. The Valencia fans, once again showing their anger against the owners but supporting their team at home, enjoyed a victory much later with the goals in the second half.

Juanpe, who scored an own goal after a shot from Luis Rioja, and Dani Gómez, also with luck, left the three points in the city of Turia. The signings, few, worked in Rubén Baraja’s team, while Míchel’s rotations, after facing FC Barcelona and PSG in a week, did not work out to stay on seven points compared to the four of a Valencia that got out of the hole.

Meanwhile, the ‘txuri-urdin’ team, a fixture at the top in recent years, missed some good and clear chances at the José Zorrilla this time to get out of the bad run they have been in this season. A counterattack by Becker brought the visitors close to a lead and, in the second half, the exchange continued. Mikel Oyarzabal’s entry could have been the key for Real, but the Spanish international missed the first one as soon as he came on and the second was not valid due to a millimetre offside. Becker and Latasa left both teams with a sweet spot at five points in the lower zone.

LAS PALMAS, LAST

Meanwhile, after losing to Rayo last week, CA Osasuna took advantage of their chances against a Las Palmas that is not quite firing on all cylinders. Two teams with a new project and 10 points for the ‘rojillos’ compared to two for the yellows. Vicente Moreno’s men extended their unbeaten streak at El Sadar with goals from Ante Budimir and Aimar Oroz.

The Croatian’s goal came from a penalty, which he himself caused, after 40 minutes in which the best player for the home team was goalkeeper Sergio Herrera. Las Palmas scored the equaliser shortly afterwards, through Gonzalo Moleiro, but in the second half, Osasuna were once again on target. The Canaries’ best moment brought the score to 2-1 and, with more exchanges afterwards, the score did not change, with Luis Carrión’s team finishing the day bottom of the table.
