Huesca beats Córdoba and moves up to fourth place

SD Huesca beat Córdoba on Monday at El Alcoraz (4-1) in the last match of the sixth round of LaLiga Hypermotion, a result that allows the Aragonese to rise to fourth place in the table and leaves the Andalusian team on the edge of the relegation zone.

Before the first quarter of an hour had passed at the Huesca stadium, the referee awarded a penalty for Calderón bringing down Gerard Valentín, which allowed Óscar Sielva to open the scoring for the home team from the eleven-meter mark (min. 13).

Shortly afterwards, in two consecutive actions, Antonio Hidalgo’s men managed to widen the gap with the Andalusian team even further. In the 29th minute, Joaquín took advantage of a play after a corner kick to make it 2-0, and just a minute later Sergi Enrich, faced with the ineffectiveness of the Cordoba defence, scored the third of the night.

However, before the break, the Portuguese Adilson reduced the deficit for the Verdiblancos. After a second half in which the Blaugranas could have increased their lead, Jordi Martín was responsible for sealing the score, on the brink of stoppage time, with a powerful shot (min.89), before José Antonio Martínez left the Cordobans with one less player after a hard kick on Soko.

In this way, Huesca breaks a series of two consecutive defeats and rises to fourth place with 12 points, two behind Racing Santander and one behind second place Real Zaragoza, the last of the direct promotion spots. Iván Ania’s team, on the other hand, continues to mark the relegation zone with five points, just one more than RC Deportivo.
