Para-cyclist Flurina Rigling is time trial world champion for the first time

Flurina Rigling has already won twenty medals at major events, but she was still missing World Championship gold in the time trial. After she was slowed down by a flat tire on her way to victory at the championships in Glasgow last year and had to settle for silver, her plan worked perfectly this time.

Not far from her home in Hedingen, the Zurich native, who lives with disabilities in her hands and feet, was able to achieve what she had planned for her home race. In the end, Rigling won the 18.8-kilometer test with a lead of 23 seconds over Daphne Schrager. Bronze went to another Brit, Amelia Cass (2:17 minutes behind).

For Rigling, it is the seventh World Championship medal on the road, the second gold. On Saturday, she will compete in the road race as defending champion. She recently won bronze in this discipline at the Paralympics. In Paris, she missed the podium in the time trial by three tenths.
