He doesn’t remember how many goals he set up. But can “home” Ogris give his former teammate an assist, or a tip, today? “Difficult,” Ogris thinks, “the underdog can’t get upset.”

Polster will take the advice to heart, as he is grateful for any help. Especially since the start of the season with Wr. Viktoria was more than just bumpy. With only four points from the first seven games, the team is languishing at the bottom of the Regionalliga East table. “We concede too many goals. But we’re not as bad as it looks in the table.”

His appeal to his players: “They should enjoy it.” At the same time, however, the 95-time international demands: “We have to fight tooth and nail. We want to be able to look ourselves in the mirror after the game.” Ogris believes his long-time strike partner can do that. “In the end, it will be about passion, about getting 10 or 15 percent out of it.” He sees the surface in the “Alte Au” as a small advantage for the underdog: “Because Salzburg is used to the fine carpet.” A new turf was laid in the five-meter areas before the game. “Stockerau will be a worthy venue.”

Polster is convinced of this – but he would still have preferred to play on Viktoria-Platz. For infrastructural reasons, they were forced to move to an alternative venue. “I still hope that more than 2,000 spectators will come.”

One of them will be Ogris. “I’ll greet Toni before kick-off.” And after the game there will certainly be time for a little chat. Perhaps about the school league final in which the two once faced each other. “We won that,” Polster remembers clearly. “But that was over a century ago,” Ogris says, waving it off. But he has to admit: “Yes, we lost, I think 2:3. I scored two goals, Toni scored three.”
