Bild: Jens Lehmann is suspected of drunk driving

Football former top goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is in trouble again. German newspaper Bild reports based on its sources that Lehmann is suspected of drunk driving.

According to the newspaper, the police stopped Lehmann early in the night between Sunday and Monday in the center of Munich. Prosecutor Anne Leiding’s according to the reason was driving that attracted attention, and the police had smelled alcohol after going to the ex-goalkeeper’s car.

According to media reports, Lehmann had spent the evening at the beer festival Oktoberfest and, based on eyewitness observations, had been heavily intoxicated.

Bild says that Lehmann failed to give the police a sufficient breath test, so he was sent for blood tests. The matter is confirmed by the prosecutor Anne Leiding.

Lehmann told Bild that he could not comment on the matter.

The investigation of the case continues.

Lehmann54, was one of the best goalkeepers of his era. In his top career, he represented, among others, Schalke, Dortmund and Arsenal. He played a total of 61 national matches in the German A national team between 1998 and 2008.

During his career, he won the league championship in Germany, Italy and England, as well as the UEFA Cup.

Lehmann played as Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper in the historic 2003-2004 Premier League season. The Londoners then won the championship without a single league loss.

The German has remained in the headlines even after his career.

At the end of last year, he was fined 420,000 euros after destroying the garage of his neighbor, a 91-year-old man, with a chainsaw in order to get a better view of the lake from his backyard.

During last summer’s European Championships, he attracted attention by criticizing a German national team player Robert Andrichin appearance.
