Real Madrid: Mbappé out with muscle injury

Champions League record winners Real Madrid will initially have to make do without Kylian Mbappé. According to the Royals, the exceptional French talent suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh in Tuesday evening’s league match against Deportivo Alaves (3:2). The Madrid team did not initially provide any information on how long he will be out of action; Spanish media assume a break of around three weeks. This would at least put a small question mark over Mbappé’s participation in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on October 22nd. Four days later, Real will face FC Barcelona in the top league duel. The 25-year-old will certainly be missing from the derby against Atlético Madrid next Sunday.

Mbappé scored against Alaves to make it 2-0, but in the 80th minute he asked to be substituted. His coach Carlo Ancelotti stressed shortly afterwards that “nothing serious” had happened to Mbappé.
