Bundesliga top game: “You wanker”: Ulreich complains about Rolfes

A video by Sven Ulreich caused a stir on the Internet and brought the DFB to the fore. In the short clip, recorded during the Bundesliga top game FC Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen (1:1), the angry Bayern substitute goalkeeper can be seen on the bench. Beforehand you can hear the loud complaint “Zeitspiel”, then the demand: “Stop over there, you bum.” Ulreich can then be seen saying “Hey, hey, sit down Rolfes, you wanker”. There is applause – and a “yes, Ulle” can be heard.

“I neither heard nor noticed it. Everyone is responsible for the level of their words,” said Bayer sports director Simon Rolfes to “Bild”. The clubs did not comment. The control committee of the German Football Association is reviewing the process. In the top league game, Leverkusen repeatedly took their time with their goal kicks, and they also took it easy in the second half.

“At 32 years old you have enough experience to realize that Bayern wanted to make it 2-1 in the last few minutes. We had to take some rhythm out of the game,” said midfielder Granit Xhaka to “Bild”. “I told Rob Andrich that one of us had to get on the floor. He said he already had a yellow card, so I took it over.”
