LaLiga will take “penal actions” against “the subjects of the Atlético Front” who last week caused the momentary suspension of the LaLiga EA Sports match between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid for the throwing of goals towards Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The employers’ association, which on Friday presented a letter to the Commission against Violence against the radical group Frente Atlético for the violent acts of the derby, thus takes another step in its crusade against violence in stadiums.
“LaLiga has announced that it will exercise the corresponding criminal actions against the subjects of the Atlético Front. Through these criminal actions, in addition to the individual responsibility of its components, the dissolution of the Atlético Front and the adoption of measures such as the closure will be requested. of the premises and establishments where they meet, as well as the suspension of the activities carried out by said organization or group,” LaLiga reported. In addition, it will request a ban on those involved in the events from attending the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium.
LaLiga also explained that it has documented a history of “142 incidents related to this group between the 2015-16 and 2022-23 seasons”, and has requested the collaboration of the State Commission against Violence in Sports and the express support of the Legal Profession. of the State to guarantee that these judicial procedures “are carried out with maximum effectiveness and that firm measures are taken against violence in Spanish football.”
Last Monday, LaLiga assured that Atlético de Madrid had “full collaboration” with the National Police during the incidents that occurred last Sunday in the Madrid derby, thus contradicting the statements made by JUPOL, the National Police union, saying that the red and white club “did not let the agents intervene.”
In addition, on Tuesday he presented three complaints to the National Police against the “instigators” of several social media campaigns against Real Madrid forward Vinícius Jr. Specifically, the employers reported three profiles from the social network X, two of them that published the ‘hashtag’ #MetropolitanoConMascarilla and a third who promoted a “feigned tribute” to ‘Mono’ Burgos, all three with the aim of racistly insulting the Madrid footballer.
