Hockey|Timrå, coached by Jokinen, has been in a dazzling mood.
Ice hockey coach Olli Jokinen has quickly left his mark on Swedish hockey, and now the man is receiving praise.
Timrå, coached by Jokinen, started the season sluggishly, but after seven rounds the team is in third place in the league table of the Swedish premier league SHL.
In August, Jokinen was in the headlines when he gave a harsh feedback tinged with swear words to the team after the loss to Vaasan Sport. Someone himself admitted that there was too much swearing.
In recent times, swearing has probably been heard a little less. The defense, in particular, has been really strong, as in seven matches they have scored an astonishing only ten goals.
The balance of the previous four matches is crushing: four wins with a combined goal difference of 16–1.
Aftonbladet pee Jokinen’s team is referred to as a “steamroller” and the style of play brought by Jokinen as “in your face hockey”.
A river himself analyzes the team’s early season. He emphasizes the importance of work.
“Opponents must not be more competitive than us. At the same time, we must remember to think. Right now we’re having a lot of fun, and it’s based on hard work,” Jokinen reflected.
He admits that he learned his lesson after the 1-4 loss to Färjestad.
“Absolutely. If I tell the players that now we are chasing the opponents, it does not mean that we are pushing to go without a goal. I’m happy to see our new DNA on the ice.”
Jokinen says he is satisfied with the breadth of the team’s material and the fact that all four chains can both defend and score goals.
“But this is just the beginning. Of course, it feels good that everything has worked and we have won matches. We still have a lot of work to do, and development must continue.”
