Pärmäkoski and Niskanen have communicated

Skier Krista Pärmäkoski in a book published on Wednesday Open (Gummerus) it turned out to the surprise of many that the main character of the book and another Finnish star Kerttu Niskanen the gaps have cooled in recent years.

Pärmäkoski states by Laura Arffman in the book he wrote, that the relationship between him and Niskanen has been influenced by which one has been better at any given time.

According to the book, the two have never spoken openly about their situation. On Thursday, Pärmäkoski told more about the current relationship between him and Niskanen.

“It is natural that there will be confrontation when you are competing for the same places. We don’t have any single issue, we’ve just drifted apart. It’s part of the growth process. However, it’s already been 15 years since we made it to the national team,” commented Pärmäkoski.

Niskanen and Pärmäkoski were able to read each other’s thoughts on the pages of the book.

“We sent a message yesterday and continued today. We haven’t had time for more than that yet,” Pärmäkoski answers the question of whether they have now spoken openly about their situation.

In the book it is said that for years Niskanen and Pärmäkoski fed the media a story that “everything is fine” between them. Also from the TV pictures it has sometimes been possible to interpret the duo as still being shirt and butt.

According to Pärmäkoski, the “faking” has not been conscious.

“Kerttu is a bit of a throwaway, but I’m not the type to jump on laps and embrace. ‘Kepa’, on the other hand, is that kind of person, so it might have looked like we were best friends. However, there are friends, that’s not it,” Pärmäkoski says.

The fact that Niskanen and Pärmäkoski have not visited the same competitions and camps as much as before has also contributed to the fading of the friendship.

“And last winter, for example, I was in my own problems and shut down, and I wasn’t at the games that much,” says Pärmäkoski, referring to his panic attacks that have gotten worse.

Pärmäkoski the biography goes through several storms that have arisen in the women’s national team over the years. The picture of the national team is drawn as a group with sparks in the background at regular intervals.

Pärmäkoski admits that living together is not always easy.

“On the other hand, it also pushes itself forward if the other one succeeds. It’s stupid to say that you don’t want to be the best Finn. Yes, all of us want to win.”

However, the crises that have become public are only part of the truth, Pärmäkoski points out.

“I feel that the national team now has a better spirit than in the past.”
