Among the highlights of the 2024–25 season for cross-country skiing, ski jumping and the combined season are the World Cup competitions in Nordic skiing in Trondheim, Norway, and the World Cup competitions in Kuusamo and Lahti in Finland.

In the rugged scenery of Ruka, competitions are held between November and December, and the Salpausselkä competitions are held at the end of March. Cross-country skiers are also electrified by the Tour de Ski in Italy’s Toblach and Val di Fiemme at the turn of the year.

According to Valtasola, the association prioritizes its activities so that the competition season can be carried out competitively within the framework required by the economic situation.

For athletes the lax deductible requirements have been talked about in recent weeks, but cross-country skiing, ski jumping and combined athletes have received support from companies to cut the deductible portions of the Ruka World Cup competitions.

At this week’s meeting of the ski association’s executive board, the deductible issue was also discussed.

“Making top sports possible is getting more expensive all the time and the upcoming season with prestigious competitions will be financially difficult, so you have to be prepared for deductibles during the competition season”, the chairman Sirpa Korkatti opened in the announcement.

“However, I would like to emphasize that we do everything we can so that deductibles are as small as possible or that there is no need to collect them. On the other hand, it is good that deductibles, which are already commonplace in many sports, are openly discussed in our sports as well.”
