Nations League: Tedesco scores a point with Belgium in Italy

Former Bundesliga coach Domenico Tedesco achieved a respectable success in the Nations League with the Belgian national football team. In the away game in Tedesco’s native Italy, the “Red Devils” won 2-2 (1-2) after a 2-0 deficit. With four points, Belgium is in third place in Group A2 behind the still unbeaten Italians and France. The two best teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals after completing the group stage.

Meanwhile, the French had a surprisingly difficult time against outsiders Israel and only won 4-1 (2-1) in Budapest with a late double strike. Israel currently has to play its home games abroad due to the Middle East war. France had to make do without their superstar Kylian Mbappe, who is out of the current international match period due to injury.

Italy weakens itself by being sent off

In Rome, Andrea Cambiaso gave the hosts the lead in the second minute, which Mateo Retegui extended (24′). However, a red card against Lorenzo Pellegrini after a hard foul brought the Belgians back into the game. Before half-time, Maxim De Cuyper (42nd) scored the next goal, and Leandro Trossard equalized after just over an hour of play.

France also took the lead early in their game, but Eduardo Camavinga benefited from a serious goalkeeping error by Israel goalkeeper Omri Glazer when he scored after seven minutes. After Omri Gandelman’s equalizer (24th), former Leipzig Bundesliga professional Christopher Nkunku (28th) responded almost immediately. Substitutes Matteo Guendouzi (87′) and Bradley Barcola (89′) made the decision late on.
