Real Madrid subdues Celtic in a Champions League bath

Real Madrid Femenino thrashed Celtic FC (4-0) this Thursday on the second day of the group stage of the 2024-2025 Champions League, to debut their record of victories, also signing a promising performance at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium .

After the defeat at Stamford Bridge, Alberto Toril’s team kept faith in the good work so far this season and beat the Scottish team with authority. A missile from Weir in the 7th minute put the locals ahead and only a lack of aim prevented a bigger result at half-time.

The Spanish team dominated from start to finish and had a dozen shots in the first half. The field continued to lean towards the visitors’ goal after the restart and Caicedo hit the woodwork a few minutes later. Toril moved the bench two by two, in search of success, with Eva Navarro and Bruun and, later, bringing on Tere Albelleira and Moller.

The wardrobe team doubled White’s lead with Bruun’s 2-0 in the 70th minute. Then, Misa avoided Celtic’s reaction and, in the final stages, Moller and Caicedo, with a penalty, sealed the victory for a Madrid that does not want to fail this season at home to get closer to the quarter-finals of the Champions League within Group B.
