"My career has come to an end". Kevin Strootman announces retirement

Having been without a team since this summer, after his last experience at Genoa, Kevin Strootman today announces his retirement from competitive activity on his X account. The 34-year-old Dutch midfielder, who has made 46 appearances for his national team, wore the Roma shirt from 2013 to 2018 before being sold to Marseille for a fee of 25 million euros.

After his experience at PSV Eindhoven, Strootman, nicknamed ‘the washing machine’ for his ability to recover and ‘clean’ the balls in the middle of the pitch, trained at Sparta Rotterdam and then returned to Italy, to Cagliari and then to Genoa before withdrawal. Strootman ends his long career after having played 485 professional matches for his national club and scored 46 goals.
