Miranda and Almengor are in weight and ready to fight for the interim world featherweight title

The Spanish boxer Jennifer Miranda and her Panamanian counterpart Teresa Almengor are in weight and ready to fight for the interim featherweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA), in a fight organized by The Boxer Club and scheduled for this Sunday at the Las Vegas Theater in Madrid starting at 5:00 p.m.

During the weigh-in held this Saturday, Miranda stopped the scale at 125.7 pounds, while Almengor marked 125.1 pounds and sent a message to his opponent before the initial bell rang. “I wanted to see her to see her face to face and know what she plans to do in the ring. That will be a war,” declared the Panamanian boxer.

This interim world title is key because Amanda Serrano, who has not defended her belt since October 27, 2023, will have her next fight against the Irish Katie Taylor in November for the super lightweight. That suggests that the Puerto Rican could abandon her featherweight title if she wins said fight or, at least, not return to 126 pounds soon.

This situation would favor the winner of this Sunday’s fight between Miranda and Almengor, in which case she would become absolute champion of the category. The 37-year-old boxer from Cadiz will also have the support of The Boxer Club, a gym of which she is an ambassador.
