Monza passes to Verona, 3-0 and first victory for Nesta

At Bentegodi the Monza by Nesta finally cures one’s victory ache and Hellas Verona beat 3-0. In the match that closes the eighth day of Serie A, the star of the evening is Dany Motaauthor of one double: the third goal bears the signature of Bianco. Turati’s contribution was also invaluable, as he was miraculous several times in foiling the opponents’ attempts. This is therefore the first success in the championship for the red and whites. On the other hand, Zanetti’s team suffered a horror defensive phase.

Monza therefore has the best approach to the match, taking the lead after nine minutes, thanks to Dany Mota’s third goal of the season. The Portuguese striker coordinates the right-footed volley and leaves no chance for an innocent Montipò, scoring the 1-0 on an assist from Caprari. Nesta’s men highlight some good combinations, initially failing the home team’s pressing. Verona, on the other hand, took a good twenty minutes to get going and, in the 24th minute, Ghilardi’s header, following a corner, forced Turati to make a great save. In the 44th minute the Scaligeri came close to equalizing again with Tengstedt’s conclusion.

Very intense and lively match even in the second half: in the initial stages, the two goalkeepers took the limelight. First Turati neutralizes Lazovic’s insidious shot, then Montipò responds to Djuric’s close-range header. The guests mainly rely on the counterattack, trying to punish an imprecise and unbalanced Verona: after a header, in the 61st minute, Kyriakopoulos hits the top corner with a great shot from outside.

The Scala family are not willing and continue to attack with great vehemence. With extreme cynicism, however, in the 74th minute Monza doubled their lead, helped by Verona’s terrible defensive phase: following a relaunch from Turati, Dany Mota collected Djuric’s lead and scored all alone in front of Montipò. From that moment all light goes out definitively on Verona’s performance, hit five minutes later by Bianco’s 3-0, lucid in taking advantage of Faraoni’s sleep. Monza won on a tactical level, showing greater cohesion and organisation, unlike a Verona who were wasteful, yes, but also frayed at times in their departments.
