David James showed no mercy.

Liverpool and Chelsea met on Sunday in the top match of the Premier League (2–1). At halftime of the match, a half-time show was seen on the Anfield turf, which was probably intended as a show of good cheer for the juniors – but it quickly erupted into rage.

The former star goalkeeper of Liverpool and the England national team was also present David James.

Several British newspapers reported on the case where an 11-year-old was able to shoot a penalty kick in Liverpool’s famous fan stand The Kopin in front of.

British tabloid Daily Mail writes how “the boy’s dream of scoring in front of Kopi was crushed”.

James, 54, who finished his active career already ten years ago, seriously decided to block the little boy’s attempts and threw himself to block both of his shots.

After this, boos directed at James rang out from the fans.

Rubbing salt into the 11-year-old’s wounds, James had, according to the Daily Mail, let go a poor attempt by an adult Liverpool fan during the half-time show, “which most Sunday League goalkeepers would have blocked”.
