KuPS player is suspected of rape

Football A player from the Veikkausliiga champion team KuPS is suspected of rape. They were the first to report about it Savon Sanomat and Evening newspaper.

According to the Pohjois-Savo district court, the suspected act took place in Kuopio on Sunday, October 13. The person was arrested on Wednesday 23.10. on grounds of suspicion.

The reason to be suspicious is the so-called lower threshold of suspicion. Of the judiciary websites according to it, the prerequisite is that the reasons for imprisonment exist. Suspicion is not yet probable, however, but there is only reason to suspect a person of a crime. An additional condition is that an explanation supporting the probability of suspicion is expected.

When an arrest is made on the basis of suspicion, pretrial detention can last a maximum of one week.

Eastern Finland On Wednesday, the police published a press release, according to which the police had been asked if they had been notified of a suspected rape on the weekend of the final match of the Veikkausliiga on October 19-20, 2024 in Kuopio. At that time, KuPS secured the victory in the Veikkausliiga when it won the last round match at HJK’s home field.

The police said in their press release that they have not received such a report, but had received a report of a suspected rape in Kuopio the weekend before the final match.

The release emphasized that preliminary investigation materials for rape crimes are to be kept secret, and therefore cannot be disclosed. The police did not say in Wednesday’s announcement whether the rape suspicion was related to the Kuopio Football Club.
