Bologna returns to victory, 2-0 in Cagliari

Breathe again Bologna obtaining a crisis-busting victory. The second success for Vincenzo Italiano comes in away from Cagliari and with a dominated match, sealed on 2-0 by Orsolini and Odgaard, but also and above all by Ndoye’s sumptuous performance. Italian dusts off De Silvestri and has to postpone the return of Ferguson, knocked out by the flu: in the 4-2-3-1 there is Odgaard behind Castro. Nicola responds with 3-4-2-1 and Viola-Gaetano behind Piccoli, choosing to defend with a covered 4-4-1-1.

The islanders immediately push, having a sensational double chance with Piccoli and Gaetano. Bologna was saved, entrusting its offensive maneuver to Ndoye’s gusts and Orsolini’s shot. The attacking winger tries on several occasions, but is inaccurate or kicks high. The fourth time is the good one, with the fireball that leaves Scuffet no chance in the 36th minute. The assist came from the Swiss and Cagliari reacted immediately, coming close to equalizing through Piccoli: Skorupski deflected it for a corner and sent everyone to the break with a 1-0 lead for the guests.

In the second half Bologna knocked with Ndoye and doubled the lead in the 51st minute: the assist came from Lucumi’, the perfect shot from Odgaard. The former Inter and Sassuolo player hits a low volley from the film library and effectively ends the game. Gaetano engages Skorupski and Nicola turns his formation around, inserting Lapadula and switching to the two strikers, but Cagliari doesn’t create any real opportunities. There are no flinches from the islanders, who fall flat in their game and are unable to make a dent in Italiano’s defensive system.

Bologna can thus manage the pace in the final and rejoice for a large and deserved result: there was no story at the Unipol Domus, just the 2-0 for the guests. The Bolognese team chased away the wave of draws and, with the second victory, rose to 12 points. The red zone is therefore moving away, set by Lecce at 8, which is instead very close for Cagliari. A shock performance and some wrong formation choices bring Nicola back into the fight for salvation, with only one point (for now) on the third from last.
