Lazio are serious, they beat Como away and take Atalanta and Fiorentina on 19 points in the Champions League zone. At Sinigaglia it ends 5-1 for the Biancocelesti thanks to a brace from Castellanos and goals from Pedro, Patric and Tchaouna, while Mazzitelli’s goal from the cinema library is of little use. Also noteworthy is one expulsion on each side, with the Reds passing on Braunoder and Nuno Tavares during the second half (author of another assist, however). Third knockout in the last four for Fabregas’ men, who remain on 9 points in the standings.
After a substantially balanced start, the visiting team began to accelerate the pace and, just before the half-hour mark, they found the opportunity to break the deadlock: Castellanos headed the ball and found an arm deflection from Dossena, punished by the referee after the VAR review. Castellanos himself goes to the spot (in the absence of Zaccagni) and scores the 1-0, displacing Audero. A handful of minutes pass and the Biancocelesti also find the second goal with Pedro, who receives yet another assist of the season from Nuno Tavares and with the left-footed player he scores the 2-0, also taking advantage of an uncertainty from the local goalkeeper.
At the end of the first half, the Como team tried to react, but Provedel did well to save a threat from a set piece situation with a dive. At the start of the second half Lazio came close to making it three in a couple of situations, but in the 53rd minute a marvelous scissors kick from Mazzitelli suddenly put Como back in the running and closed the gap. The euphoria of Fabregas’ team risks not lasting very long, because in the 62nd minute Braunoder gets the second yellow of his game and leaves his team inferior, but just three minutes later Nuno Tavares follows in his footsteps and puts everything back into numerical balance . Despite this, however, Baroni’s team began to press again and in the 72nd minute they ran away: Dia swept the area following a corner situation, Patric attacked the far post and made it 3-1 for Lazio. All this just moments before a splendid free kick from Castellanos was saved by Audero with a dive.
The hosts would have two great chances to reopen it with first Engelhardt and then Cerri but they failed sensationally, so in the 81st minute Lazio definitively closed the score with a personal brace from Castellanos who scored after another assist from Dia. In full recovery, Tchaouna also took part in the celebration, making it 5-1 on Lazzari’s serve.
