Basketball players go to Spain without the injured Shavonta Zellous

The Croatian women’s senior basketball team gathered in Zagreb as part of the qualification for the 2025 European Championship and headed north. Namely, training takes place in Zabok, while the national team is located in Terme Tuhelj.

There have been no official matches since November last year, when our national team lost to Spain in Split 70-65 and beat the Netherlands 81-57, but this summer part of the national team gathered for the tournament in Greece.

On Wednesday, the girls travel to Austria. They will play against Austria in Vienna’s Hallmann Dome on Thursday, November 7 (8:20 p.m., SportKlub), and the next morning, the national team will fly to Spain. The match against the European vice-champions is scheduled for Sunday, November 10 at 7 p.m. (SportKlub).

36 countries are participating in the qualifiers, which are played on the principle of home and away, including the four co-hosts of the 2025 European Championship, Greece, Germany, Greece and Italy. The organizers were placed in the same group, while the remaining 32 countries were drawn into eight groups of four teams each, which will compete for the 12 remaining tickets to the European Championship.

Croatia is in Group A with Spain, the Netherlands and Austria, and the matches are on November 9 and 12, 2023, November 7 and 10, 2024 and February 6 and 9, 2025.

The eight winners of the groups will qualify for the European Championship, as well as the four best second-placed national teams from the nine groups, and all results in the groups will be taken into account.
