Rugby: Montpellier fullback Stuart Hogg admits to having harassed his former wife

The Scottish fullback from Montpellier, Stuart Hogg, admitted acts of harassment towards his former partner and mother of his four children, this Monday before a court in Scotland, where the deliberation is expected on December 5.

The 32-year-old former Scotland having followed the movements of Gillian Scott, whom he married in 2016, on several occasions via an app. He also sent her messages of an alarming and distressing nature.

The former Glasgow Warriors and Exeter player, recruited in 2024 by Montpellier (Top 14), also admitted to having sent 200 text messages in a few hours to his ex-wife after their separation.

Sky TV reports that the player shouted at his ex-wife after he returned from drinking with his friends. His wife, who was taking refuge upstairs with her children, was accused by the father of her children of “not being fun”.

Admissions of guilt which follow a period of seven years where the rugby player had denied accusations of harassment. Stuart Hogg was arrested in September before being released on bail.

On a sporting level, Hogg honored his 100th and final cap with Scotland in March 2023, a few weeks before the surprise announcement of his international retirement. He also represented the British and Irish Lions. The full-back, also capable of playing as an opener, arrived this summer in Montpellier. He broke his right hand on October 26 against La Rochelle in the Top 14.
