Football expert: Hamann is surprised about Leverkusen: “Just a shadow”

Football expert Dietmar Hamann is surprised at the decline in performance of champions Bayer Leverkusen this season. “At the moment they are just a shadow of the team they were last year,” said the ex-national player on the TV channel Sky: “It’s an absolute mystery to me what’s going on with the Leverkusen team. (…) Things aren’t going well. It’s hard to say what it is, whether it’s just expectation. Whether it’s just that feeling that they’ve achieved everything or had an outstanding season.”

Leverkusen suffered a clear 4-0 defeat at Liverpool FC in the Champions League and thus slipped out of the top 8 places, which are important for direct qualification for the round of 16. In the league, the gap to record champions Bayern Munich is already seven points.
