Basketball: Tuomas IIsalo led Memphis to victory over the Los Angeles Lakers

Coach Tuomas Iisalo made Finnish basketball history the night before Thursday Finnish time. Iisalo was the head coach in the NBA league match, where he led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 131–114 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Iisalo became the first Finnish coach to serve as a head coach in the NBA. From the head coach of Memphis From Taylor Jenkins the match was missed due to a death in the family.

Not even the Lakers’ superstar prevented the victory of Memphis led by Iisalo LeBron James’s great night. James scored 39 points.

The match at the media conference after the match, Iisalo appeared calm, but said that there was tension under the match – as he always says before matches.

“I’ve been doing this job for over ten years and there’s always excitement before a match,” Iisalo said with a smile.

“I’ve learned that it’s a positive thing and that you’re in the right state of mind then. That’s when you do the right things and I’m happy that I still have that feeling in my stomach.”

Iisalo admitted that the situation was new to him in the NBA.

“The whole situation was different from my previous matches [NBA:ssa]because when you are the head coach, you are responsible for everything. It’s not my normal role here, because as an assistant coach I support the rest of the group and try to implement the views of head coach Jenkins.”

Overall, Iisalo was satisfied with how everything went in the match.

“I received good support from others.”

In the match Memphis suffered a setback when the playmaker Ja Morant was injured in the third quarter. He managed to score 20 points.

Memphis has now won five of their nine games. The team plays in the same group as Lauri Markkanen The Utah Jazz, who have just one win.
