Rugby: two US Dax players in police custody for “sexual assault” and “violence under alcohol”

The days follow one another and are the same for French rugby. While the Auradou-Jegou affair is not yet closed, other investigations into violence and sexual assault in rugby are already emerging. According to information from “Sud Ouest”, two US Dax players were taken into custody this Thursday for two separate cases. They were not present at training with their teammates and will not be traveling to Béziers, where the Dacquois are due to play this Friday as part of the 10th day of Pro D2.

According to the regional daily, the events took place “in the evening of Saturday November 2 to Sunday November 3, around 1 a.m., in different bars on the Place de la Fontaine-chaude in Dax”. A complaint was filed and two separate investigations were opened, one for “sexual assault”, the other for “violence committed under the influence of alcohol”.

Contacted by Sud Ouest, the general director of US Dax, Adrien Asteggiano, assured that he did not know “what is happening in terms of the investigation. » “At the moment, we are not commenting,” he continued. Benjamin Gufflet, chairman of the board, indicated that “the club reacted as soon as it was informed in order to help the rapid manifestation of the truth for the respect of the victims and the partners of the club” and that it “took the initiation of a disciplinary procedure whose outcome will depend in particular on the seriousness of the facts established and the ability of its employees to amend. »
