Sinner does not fail in his debut at the ATP Finals

The Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner defeated the Australian Álex de Miñaur (6-3, 6-4) to begin with victory his assault on the ATP Finals that started this Sunday in Turin (Italy), within a Group Ilie Nastase where the American Taylor Fritz defeated an angry Daniil Medvedev (6-4, 6-3).

The world number one played his first game of the season in front of his home crowd, although the season is nearing its end, and also for the first time he played at home as the best in the world. Sinner did not fail to be the favorite, even more so over De Minaur against whom he was 8-0 in the history of confrontations.

The finalist last year, fell to the great absentee this year Novak Djokovic, he started by losing his serve in the first set, but then added five games in a row to get the set back on track. The second act remained even and there was only one game with break options, the fifth, where the Italian broke.

Thus, Sinner, champion of seven titles this season, took the first step towards a Masters Cup in which the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz will debut this Monday against the Norwegian Casper Ruud, from the John Newcombe Group. In the other match of the first day this Sunday, Fritz knocked down the 2020 tournament champion.

Medvedev did not have his day and on top of that he returned to his old ways, clashing with the public and throwing his racket repeatedly. The Russian committed three double faults to lose the first set and in the second he did not take advantage of three break balls he had before giving up his serve in the sixth game. With that income, Fritz took the first step towards the semifinals that he already reached in 2022.
