Helsinki hall: the sale became news in Russia

Our eastern neighbor’s media picked up on the sale of Helsinki Hall to Finnish investors.

The former The sale of the Hartwall arena, i.e. the Helsinki hall, was also reported in Russia.

Helsingin Sanomat reported on Tuesday that the embargoed Russian oligarchs have sold the former Hartwall arena, i.e. the voting class C shares of Helsinki Halli Oy that they owned.

The buyer is a group of Finnish investors. The group’s main investor is Heikki Viitikko.

Sealing the deal still requires the approval of the EU and Finnish authorities.

Several Russian news sites reported on the matter, quoting Finnish media.

“The sports and concert arena Helsinki-halli, which now belongs to the Russians, has been sold to Finnish investors. The agreement still requires confirmation by the EU and Finnish authorities,” he said RT website Quoting from Helsingin Sanom.

“The epic is over – the Finns bought the Helsinki ice arena from the Russians,” the news reported DP site.

DP told about it quoting Ilta-Sanom.

“The sports and concert arena Helsinki-halli, which was previously Russian-owned, has been sold to a group of Finnish investors”, NSN reported Relying on Helsingin Sanomat in its reporting.

In the arena company since 2013, the voting power has been used by Arena Events Oy, whose background is the oligarchs Gennady Timchenko mixed Arkady, Boris and Roman Rotenberg.

The media of our eastern neighbor emphasized that the deals were made with Russian businessmen.

At least some of the texts in the Russian media recounted the phases of the recent years of the Hall on a general level, but did not mention the war of aggression that Russia started in February 2022 in Ukraine.
