Ranieri is the new coach of Roma

There are those who, when Roma call, seem unable to say no. All that’s missing now is the official announcement: Claudio Ranieri is now to be considered, for the third time (2009-2011 and 2019), the new coach of the Giallorossi team; the fourth in the space of 10 months, after José Mourinho, Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric. Three days after the dismissal of the Croatian coach, the Capitoline management seems to have ensured the performances of the former coach, among many, of Napoli, Fiorentina, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Leicester – a team with which he raised to the sky a historic Premier League in 2016 -, who should lead the team until June 2025. A courageous choice but which cannot be defined as reckless, given Ranieri’s great experience and the esteem he enjoys in the environment; also ideal for trying to ease tensions with the fans. 15 years after the first time, the Roman coach is therefore called upon again to revive the fortunes of a team that is walking on a razor’s edge and which, after 12 days, is just four points away from the relegation zone.

Decisive, in addition to the boundless love for the city and the team, themeeting today with the Friedkins in Londonwhich took very little to convince a man who evidently cannot resist the call of a square that he has always felt like his home. Who else if not him, who in that distant 2010, again on the twelfth matchday, gathered a team in conditions very similar to the current one (15 points), leading them to come close to the scudetto, which was lost at the Olimpico stadium against Cassano and Pazzini’s Sampdoria.

It remains difficult to even think about the possibility that the Giallorossi could repeat a similar run (around 2.22 points on average), but even just an immediate change in attitude could be good for the players and, above all, the fans, both for morale and the standings. . For this reason already starting from Thursday – the day on which there will be rstart of training in Trigoria – Ranieri will have the task of making his immense knowledge of the game available to the squad, without forgetting the great empathy that has always distinguished him and which, in some ways, makes him the perfect coach to bring this team as as far as possible, from now until the end of the season.

Returning from London, where he was asked by the Friedkins to sit on the Roma bench again, Claudio Ranieri was welcomed at Fiumicino by the enthusiasm of around two hundred Giallorossi fans. The Testaccino coach, who will take the place of the sacked Ivan Juric, was escorted by some agents to the exit of the airport, wearing a yellow and red scarf and also seeming excited for his third time on the Capitoline bench. Now all that is missing is the official announcement from the club, which should arrive in the next few hours, given that tomorrow afternoon the former Juventus, Inter and Leicester coach will lead his first training session in Trigoria.
