Barça also marks distances with Real Madrid in League F

FC Barcelona Femení beat Real Madrid 0-4 this Saturday with two goals from Patricia Guijarro, another from Claudia Pina and one more from Alexia Putellas, in a match corresponding to matchday 10 in League F and whose result has helped the culés to distance themselves from another direct opponent for the title.

At the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium, Barça soon got its good harvest of this women’s Classic back on track. In a corner taken by Caroline Graham Hansen with her right foot on the wing, Alexia Putellas touched the ball with her right shoulder and Patri Guijarro finished off that 0-1 (min.4) at will, at the far post and almost on the same line of goal.

Real Madrid’s response came in the 8th minute, with a gallop by Naomie Feller down the right side after leaving Mapi León’s marking; The ball arrived on the opposite side to Alba Redondo, who took a shot from point-blank range inside the area and grazed the post after bouncing off Irene Paredes before going over the baseline.

Next, Barça had a very clear scoring chance, following a pass from Esmee Brugts for Aitana Bonmatí to beat Olga Carmona in a sprint; After stepping into the white area and avoiding the exit of Misa Rodríguez, the current Ballon d’Or winner found herself without an angle to shoot and passed low to Ewa Pajor, who did not connect her shot despite having it open.

However, the Blaugranas continued to dominate and made it 0-2 in the 22nd minute. After Carmona avoided another chance from Bonmatí on the grass, the weak clearance by the local defense fell at the feet of Guijarro, who on the edge of the area scored with a strong right foot against the post.

The advantage on the scoreboard did not stop Pere Romeu’s pupils, who made more attempts at the rival goal. Between Misa Rodríguez and especially the French central Maëlle Lakrar, the meringues solved the score until in the 39th minute they conceded the 0-3, not without controversy because at the origin of the play the ball had touched Mapi León’s arm.

The set continued and, with everything turned to the right wing, Bonmatí went over the unmarked Graham Hansen, catching Carmona’s back. The Norwegian forward rushed to the baseline and her cross behind was converted into a goal thanks to a left-footed shot by Claudia Pina at first and on the run.

Before the break, Misa prevented Barça from going to the locker room with three saves; Graham Hansen, Bonmatí and Mapi León had suffered from this skill of the Real Madrid goalkeeper, who stood out as the best on her team despite the goals already conceded.

After the restart, the Madrid goalkeeper had more work. In the 53rd minute she prevented an Olympic goal from Mapi León and a couple of minutes later she also skillfully repelled another strong shot from Mapi León herself, who was joining the attack due to the palpable superiority of her team.

Then a chance from Caroline Weir tested the nerves of Cata Coll, who until then had not had much homework. Although Alberto Toril tried to change the dynamic by making several substitutions, only two shots by Signe Bruun in the 68th and 71st minutes created real danger.

The Blaugranas’ verdict came in the 86th minute, through Putellas. In the center of the field and during a defensive retreat, Lakrar lost the ball under pressure from Bonmatí; Barça’s number 14 advanced meters and assisted Kika Nazareth, who gave the ball to the arrival of a Putellas excellent in her definition with her left foot.

The touch with the outside of her boot stung the ball and surpassed both the Madrid goalkeeper and a defender who had dropped to the ground in order to block the shot. That great goal secured another key victory for Barça in its fight for leadership, after the one achieved in the previous league match against Atlético de Madrid by 0-3.

Thus, the culés now have 30 points at the top of the table. In second place is Real Madrid, with 22 points and one game still to play; and Atlético de Madrid appears in third position, with 20 points and also with nine games in its locker.

On the other hand, the Saturday session in this League F saw the triumphs of Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa 2-0 against Valencia CF and Madrid CFF 2-1 against SD Eibar. In the other match of the day, Granada CF and FC Levante Badalona tied (1-1) in Nasrid lands.
