NHL professional Moritz Seider is aware of the significance of his new mega contract with the Detroit Red Wings. “I would never have dreamed that I would one day be talking about such sums, and over such lengths. Of course, a childhood dream came true somewhere and now you no longer have to worry financially,” said the defender of the German Press Agency.
“Before, you were already doing really well and you could invite your friends to dinner, you were able to do a lot of good things for the family and now you just know that mom, dad, my brother, my grandparents and my children don’t have any worries to make money when everything goes well. “It’s definitely a surreal feeling,” said the 23-year-old, who once played for Adler Mannheim.
Seider signed a new contract before the season and tied himself to the NHL team from the US state of Michigan until 2031. According to the Red Wings, he will earn $8.55 million (around €7.6 million) per year. In total, the former man from Mannheim collected the equivalent of around 53.6 million euros in seven years.
“But of course hunger doesn’t stop and you have higher demands and of course you want to meet them,” emphasized Seider. He is one of the most important players in the squad and was voted the league’s best rookie in his first NHL season.
